Battle of the Bartenders

“We both lost our fathers to cancer. Mine in January 1988 and Mary’s Dad was the following year. Hospice came in and supported our families during a most difficult time and we wanted to be able to give back.” That’s how Diana Verillo explained why she and her friend Mary Foster chose to host the Battle of the Bartenders, on January 13th at Highland Park Golf Course in Auburn, in support of Hospice.

For the second year in a row, the golf course has let members be celebrity bartenders for a period of eight weeks. According to the golf course, “The competition is based on ringing up the most sales. All tips, raffle proceeds, and donations raised are then donated to the members’ charity or organization of choice.” Diana and Mary were able to raise over $2,000 in support of Hospice at this year’s event! They said they couldn’t have done it without all of the support they had from Mary’s husband, John and their friend, Kathy Becker, who helped out with the donated items and raffles. The pair also wanted to be sure to thank the two bartenders from the golf course, Kim and Marissa. “They helped us out behind the bar. Mary and I couldn’t have done it without any of them.”

Thank you to Diana and Mary for choosing Hospice to benefit from this fun event!
