Power in Community

We made a call to our community just over a year ago, for crocheted and/or knitted blankets and the community responded with nearly 600 blankets to provide comfort to our patients.

Recently, we needed rice and/or corn heating packs and catheter bag covers/holders and our community answered the call again! The rice and corn packs are meant to provide extra warmth and comfort for our patients. Our catheter bag covers are appreciated by our patients who may or may not be bedbound. They help to conceal a patient’s catheter bag and help to provide them with a sense of dignity. Within just two weeks we received 93 items.

Already feeling tremendously grateful, we were then taken by complete surprise when we received a call from Laura Gregus who informed us that both she and her husband spent a rainy day crafting for Hospice patients. It all started when Mark, Laura’s husband came home and asked her what she was doing. She said she was making heating packs for Hospice. Mark told her that he would go out and get corn to fill the bags. When he returned home with 150 pounds of corn, Laura couldn’t believe it. They spent the weekend together sewing and filling 129 heat bags for Hospice patients!

We are so grateful for all of your heartfelt donations. Patients are always grateful to receive a handmade item from a community member. It really is something special.
