Specialty Volunteers Needed

Our Volunteer Department needs Specialty Services volunteers in ALL the counties we serve – Cayuga, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego.

Our Specialty Services volunteers include licensed hairstylists and barbers, Veterans, Level 2 or Reiki Master practitioners, and Notaries. Below is a brief description of what each of these Specialty Services volunteer requirements are:

Hairstylists and Barbers
Provide one hour or more a month to our homebound patients.

Veterans
Veteran volunteers to honor fellow Veterans with a short ceremony at a veteran’s home, by presenting a small American flag pin and ceremonial certificate that we  provide.

Level 2 or Reiki Master Practitioners
Provide your time and energy to assist in holistic and spiritual healing of end-of-life patients.

Notaries
Provide notary assistance to patients and their families as needed.

All prospective volunteers must complete the required paperwork to become a Hospice Volunteer. The following are a few examples of the requirements but are not limited to this list.

  • Volunteer application and three references.
  • Current physical, 2 PPD (TB) tests given ONLY at our Hospice Office in Liverpool – free of charge.
  • Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or titer (blood draw) to prove immunity to Measles/German Measles to be performed at a Lab Alliance clinic. Hospice covers this cost.
  • Mandatory Training – A one-time 4-hour training class to be scheduled based on the availability of both the volunteer(s) and trainer.

These specialty services provide our patients with a much-needed “pick me up and comfort”, as well as honoring fellow veterans.

Won’t you help our patients with your specialty services?
