During such a delicate time in a family’s life, the meaning of our work above all else is to provide the necessary comfort, care and support they need and deserve. With financial support from our community and encouraging words like those recently shared by Maria and Julie, we remain vigilant and inspired as our community’s expert resource at the end of life.
“My sister and I can’t say enough about Hospice. They watched over our Mom MULTIPLE times the last few years. In fact, twice they were able to get her healthy enough that she couldn’t be covered by the program for a while (which was a good thing and amazing)!
They provided peace of mind with volunteers who would sit with Mom so she didn’t feel lonely and a nurse who would check in during the week. They even had a Eucharistic Minister who would give Mom communion, and a volunteer who gave my sister a ride to and from the nursing home to visit.
When there were times she fell or had other issues, Hospice advocated for us so I didn’t have to drive in from out of state to deal with it. In her death, they’ve been great answering our questions and offering bereavement assistance.
If you have a loved one who is nearing the end of their life, don’t hesitate to reach out to Hospice of Central New York and Hospice of the Finger Lakes to care for them. Knowing Mom was being kept comfortable above all else was so important to us. We firmly believe that she wouldn’t have lived as long as she did had it not been for this Organization. Thank you Hospice for all you’ve done for our family.”
Sincerely – Maria and Julia Leaf
