Hospice of Central New York has been recognized as a Level Three Partner in the “We Honor Veterans” Program. The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs developed this program to ensure that our service men and women are getting the very best hospice and palliative care. The NHPCO cited our ongoing efforts and dedication to offer Veterans access to quality end-of-life care.
“We are very happy with this recognition but our efforts won’t stop here. Hospice of CNY has programs and services so we can progress onto the next level of this tiered national recognition program. We believe this effort is very important.” that according to Hospice of CNY Communication Officer, Bill Pfohl.
It may surprise many people to learn that 25 percent of those who die every year in the U.S. are Veterans. The nation is seeing many of the Veterans who served in Korea pass away—and the number of deaths of Vietnam Veterans is beginning to rise. Many times Veterans are shy to share their service experiences. By recognizing the unique needs of our nation’s Veterans who are facing a life-limiting illness, Hospice of Central New York is better able to accompany and guide Veterans and their families toward a more peaceful ending.
