I've Made the Decision PDF Print E-mail

So Now You’re in Hospice…

You may be feeling relief that this decision has finally been made to take this step.
You may be sad or depressed that your illness has come to this point.
You may be angry with yourself, loved ones, doctors, God, or fate.
You may feel somewhat resigned to whatever happens.
You may be hopeful for whatever time there is left for good days to experience family and friends.
You may just be anxious for unknown reasons.
You may be in pain or regular discomfort.

With whatever you’re feeling, know that there are many common feelings to any human being facing possible suffering and dying.

You are unique, but you are not alone.
One minute you may feel one way, the next moment entirely differently.
There is no one right way to approach this passage in your life.
Only you can decide how is best to do that for you.

But that doesn’t mean that you do it by yourself.
Those who care for you and love you will do their best, we hope, to make this time as comfortable and as special as possible.
We who are your Hospice staff will likewise try to “be there” with you and for you.
We will honestly answer all of your questions and tell you when we simply do not know.
Each member of the team respects your desire to be “in charge” and is here to listen and to talk with you was you wish.
We simply want you to know that we deeply respect you and your loved ones and feel privileged to be a part of your life at this time.
We hope you can be gentle on yourself at this time, with whatever it may bring, and know that as you allow us, we will walk with you as best we can.

We honor you and respect you in entrusting us at Hospice with your life and care.
