DEVELOPMENT OFFICER Full Time (40 hours per week) 100% Benefits Eligible Salaried – Exempt Reports to: Director of Development POSITION SUMMARY: This position plays a pivotal role as the organization develops an integrated annual giving and major gifts programs. The Development Officer is charged with general fundraising and stewardship activities with special emphasis on special event planning and implementation, corporate sponsorship, corporate and foundation grants, and individual giving. MINIMUM EDUCATION: A Bachelors’ degree is required. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: At least two years of paid fundraising experience including major gift solicitation, direct donor and volunteer contact, grant proposal writing, gift solicitation, donor stewardship and cultivation activities, prospect research and positive public presentation. A successful candidate must be: - Energetic and innovative in their approach to community engagement and fundraising - Able to think creatively - Mature in making sound judgments, and comfort taking direction as well as working independently - Excellent in their social, communication, and presentation skills including the ability to represent the Hospice of CNY effectively within a variety of settings and diverse communities - Ability to work with and function as a Development team member as well as working with all other teams within the organization - Ability to respect the dignity and confidentiality of all who serve and are served - Proficient in the use of Raisers Edge fundraising software, Microsoft Office, and design applications. - Excellent problem-solving skills - Possess a valid NY State driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel within a defined geographic area - Comfortable and effective at receiving and seeking monetary and in-kind contributions in person and in writing - Able to work after standard office hours for designated fund raising events, as required Apply to: Interested applicants may submit a resume to Human Resources at: HumanResources@HospiceCNY.org
