Camp Healing Hearts is a special day camp for grieving children. Molly is an 11-year old who participated in Hospice of Central New York’s Camp Healing Hearts program last summer. Molly describes her personal experience below:
“Going to Camp Healing Hearts was enlightening, interesting, and entertaining. There were so many fun things to do at Camp, such as the art shack, theater, and hiking. There were also a lot of eye-opening activities that helped me understand more about grief and reminded me of all the good things about my special person. I learned how to cope with the emotions that I was feeling. It’s good to express your emotions, and I realized what I was experiencing was completely normal. Camp Healing Hearts allows you to share your grief with kids that are going through a similar situation. I enjoyed the whole experience.”
Our Camp is open to all children entering grades one through six who have experienced the death of a loved one. This special program gives them the opportunity to learn that they are not alone in their loss experience.
Hospice of Central New York’s Camp Healing Hearts has been made possible through the generous support of our community. Please consider making a donation to provide a young person, like Molly, the opportunity to share their story, express themselves and find hope in their own lives.
