How do I know if The Center is right for me?

  • Some wonder if they can survive in the world without their spouse, parent, child or friend.
  • Some come to the Center because they want to know what is “normal” in grief. 
  • Some people come when their world feels shattered and out of control.  
  • Some come when tragedy strikes suddenly through suicide, homicide or fatal accidents.
  • Others come because they need someone to listen.  Who was the person who died?  What did it mean to have them in your life?  What does it mean for the rest of your life?  How can you find happiness in the future while remembering your loved one?
  • Grief buried continues to surface throughout life.  With the support of caring, trained professionals, your journey to the ultimate goal of “Healthy Grieving, Hopeful Living” can be realized.

Our Services:


Grief Counseling

Professional grief counselors provide grief information and counseling support for adults and children at The Center for Living With Loss.  Call to schedule an appointment at either our Liverpool or East Genesee Street office.

Grief Support Groups

These professionally led groups provide a safe place for those impacted by loss to obtain information, tools for coping and support.   Groups are held once a week, for six consecutive weeks.   Several six-week series are held throughout the year.

Grief Talks

This ongoing series of talks provides information to help those who are grieving “do the work” of grief more helpfully and hopefully.   This series was designed for those who want grief information without sharing their grief in a public way.

Coping With Grief

These “drop in” groups are offered every other week in the summer months.  You are welcome to come to one or all of the sessions where we will provide information and support for those who grieve.

Holiday Support Group

This professionally led group focuses on coping with some of the unique challenges that grievers face at holiday times.

Interactive Workshops

These workshops are “hands on” opportunities to explore your grief with others through creative writing, memory book creation and other expressive approaches.

Walking Group

It’s healthy, helps reduce stress and provides an easy way for people to connect with others.  Even if you don’t want to walk, the coffee and conversation is great!

Service of Remembrance

Twice each year, The Center holds a Service of Remembrance to honor those who have died in our program.  The service is a mixture of music, readings and remembering our loved ones.  A reception follows; family and friends are welcome.
